Breitbart News has learned that the CEO of a Texas veterinary clinic has resigned, and the news is causing controversy among his colleagues.
The Austin American-Statesman reports that Dr. Andrew Johnson, the CEO and president of the PetCare Veterinary Hospital in El Paso, Texas, will resign from his position on Feb. 7.
“It is a difficult time for the entire veterinary community,” Johnson said in a statement released by the hospital on Wednesday.
“We are grateful to our veterinarians for their service and dedication to the profession.
I appreciate the trust they have placed in me and my team, and wish them well for the future.”
PetCare, which operates nine veterinary clinics in the Lone Star State, had previously been rocked by a string of incidents including allegations of fraud and improper patient care.
The organization announced that it had suspended all staff, suspended its annual medical review, and suspended the practice of veterinary medicine entirely, but those actions have since been reversed.
The Associated Press has reached out to PetCare for comment and will update this post when we hear back.
